Discover Restaurant Mythos - Haus Inrath

If you ever find yourself driving along Inrather Str. 439, 47803 Krefeld, Germany, hungry and unsure where to stop, Restaurant Mythos - Haus Inrath is the kind of place that quietly wins you over. I’ve visited several Greek restaurants across North Rhine-Westphalia, and after multiple dinners here, I can say this spot consistently delivers the kind of hearty, authentic experience people hope for but don’t always get.

The first thing you notice is the atmosphere. It’s warm, relaxed, and unpretentious-more neighborhood taverna than flashy city hotspot. The dining room feels spacious yet cozy, making it suitable for both family dinners and small celebrations. On my last visit, a large birthday group occupied one side of the restaurant while couples enjoyed quiet meals on the other. Despite being busy, service never felt rushed. That balance is harder to achieve than it looks.

Let’s talk about the menu, because that’s where this place really stands out. Greek cuisine is rooted in simplicity and quality ingredients. According to the Mediterranean diet research published by organizations like the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, meals rich in olive oil, fresh vegetables, grilled meats, and herbs are associated with heart health and overall well-being. You can taste those principles in action here. The grilled souvlaki is tender and properly seasoned, the gyros has that perfect crisp edge without being greasy, and the tzatziki tastes freshly made rather than mass-produced.

One dish I keep coming back for is the bifteki stuffed with feta. It arrives sizzling, aromatic with oregano and garlic. The balance of saltiness from the cheese and the juicy minced meat is spot on. The kitchen clearly understands temperature control-something many casual diners overlook. Cooking minced meat evenly while keeping it moist requires precision and timing. That consistency shows experience behind the grill.

Portion sizes are generous, which aligns with the Greek hospitality tradition often described as filoxenia. You won’t leave hungry. The mixed grill platter is ideal if you want variety, especially if you’re new to Greek food. It allows you to sample different meats in one go, paired with rice, fries, and a fresh side salad. The salad itself isn’t an afterthought; it’s crisp, balanced, and properly dressed.

Service deserves its own mention. During one particularly busy Saturday evening, I observed how the staff managed orders. They used a coordinated system between the floor team and kitchen, minimizing wait times without sacrificing quality. Drinks arrived quickly, and dishes were spaced well. In restaurant operations, timing is crucial for guest satisfaction, and according to industry data from the German Hotel and Restaurant Association (DEHOGA), efficient service flow significantly impacts repeat visits. Judging by the steady stream of returning customers, they’re doing something right.

Online reviews echo this experience. Many guests highlight the friendly staff, consistent flavors, and fair pricing. While no restaurant is perfect-occasional wait times during peak hours can happen-the overall feedback remains strongly positive. It’s worth noting that weekends are especially popular, so reserving a table is a smart move.

Another strength is accessibility. Located in Krefeld’s Inrath district, the restaurant is easy to reach and offers convenient parking options nearby. That may sound minor, but in reality, location and convenience often influence dining decisions more than people admit. For locals, it feels like a reliable go-to spot. For visitors, it’s a pleasant discovery away from tourist-heavy areas.

From a professional perspective, what impresses me most is consistency. In hospitality, consistency builds trust. Whether you order grilled lamb, seafood, or a classic moussaka, the flavors remain authentic and balanced. The kitchen doesn’t try to reinvent Greek cuisine; instead, it respects tradition while maintaining quality standards.

In short, this isn’t just another restaurant on the map of Krefeld. It’s a dependable Greek diner where solid cooking, generous portions, and welcoming service come together naturally. When a place manages to combine comfort, authenticity, and reliability, it earns its reputation one plate at a time.

  • Eveything tasted wonderful, no complaints out of us. Very pleasant staff, had not recently been here before but would keep coming back again. My sister and I were seated immediately, lovely setting for a special lunch. Love being here, the staff generally cause you to feel important and I really like the menu selection. Went for a causal dinner, really happy with price, good value for money.
